Wedding Recaps - The Dollar Dance

Hello friends!!! Long time no see!
It's been busy life here lately for us, as I'm sure it has for you, so I'm sorry for not getting around to another recap until now... I do blog Monday-Friday every week over at Truly Lovely, so I do hope you'll follow me over there during my lags in sharing here. :)

Truly Lovely

Ok! The Dollar Dance! ;)
One of the things I most enjoyed at one of my bestie's weddings (shout out to Meg Jo!) was the dollar dance.
I had never seen that before and thought it was the funnest idea!
So of course, we decided to have one at ours.

Dancing with groomsman, Victor
It was SO fun!!
It really encourages everyone to get up and dance with the bride and groom, and of course, you get to keep the cash afterwards! ;)

Mr. M and our niece, Taylor
You can see my mom and Kayli collecting the 'dollars' in some of these shots. :)
We kind of made it a contest between myself and Mr. M...
The winner? The bride, obviously! ;) Everyone wants to dance with the bride at weddings! haha!

Everyone else just kind of danced around us while this was going on...
Unless they were standing in line. ;)

Those little sweethearts were so fun! They all came as a group to dance with me. :)

Stay tuned... There are a few more Wedding Recap posts to come!

*******

Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!!!
We spent Sunday cleaning and then decorating our house for our first MARRIED Christmas!
What about you? Getting ready for the holidays?

AND did you/will you have the Dollar Dance at your wedding?

Wedding Recaps - Father, Daughter Dance

About a month before our first wedding date I asked my dad to choose our father-daughter song.
Knowing how things roll at my parents' house... I told him Mom and Kayli could HELP...
But I would like it to be his choice. ;)
After much searching and having Kayli print him out the lyrics to several songs (so he knew what they were really saying!) he made his choice.

I loved her first by Heartland.
To hear and read the full lyrics to the song, click here

The chorus goes,
"I loved her first, I held her first
And a place in my heart will always be hers
From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep"

In that first picture up there he was telling me,
"Where's Mr. M (he said his name) he needs to hear this." :)
Love my dad.

Mr. M was there... To the left, see. :) He heard.

Little Miss Corryn joined in of course.
She was straight up cutting a rug ALL night. :)
Cracked my dad up!!

That's my mama and Mr. M watching behind us there.
Then they joined in! :)

She looked lovely in her pretty blue dress with her hair down! :)
Everyone said so.

Don't know what I'd do without the AMAZING parents I am truly blessed to call mine.
I don't get to see them near enough... We live 3 hours apart now...
Everyone is so busy anymore. But when I do I now know to cherish every minute!

Love you mom and dad!!!!

Wedding Recaps - Making it Legal

Would you believe my mom just told me about a girl from back home that got married...
They had the officiant, the cake, the reception, the whole sha-bang...
But then when it came time to sign the marriage license...
They'd forgot to get one!!!

So... word to the wise -
Don't forget your marriage license on your wedding day! :)

Oh, and if you live in AZ or are getting married in AZ, here's the deets on getting one here.

Our photographer caught some fun moments while we were all signing OUR marriage license!
First, the Bishop signed while Mr. M and his buddies were in the background giving each other pep talks... Or whatever guys talk about. :)

Then, the best man signed under Mr. M's watchful eye of course. :)

While Kayli, the maid of honor, was sharing her signature, the best man shared his congratulations.

Then Mr. M.

And then me.
What you don't see in this one is my mom standing behind me who I had just asked,
"Do I sign as Kassi MarriedName, or Kassi MaidenName?"
We decided on Kassi MaidenName MarriedName. ;)

And it was official! :)

My parents have their marriage certificate framed and hanging on the wall.
We have yet to do anything with ours...
Except me carting it around with me everywhere to change my name to
Kassi MarriedName... But that's for another blog post.

Did you frame your marriage license/certificate?
Scrapbook it?
Other ideas???

Wedding Recaps - First Dance

We thought long and hard about what our first dance song would be.
Nothing too slow. Nothing too fast.
Then this lovely little ditty made it's debut sometime around that time....
And it was fate. ;)

We had a few minutes to ourselves, then our wedding party joined in.
We had asked them to beforehand...
Mr. M isn't much for being the only one in front of a crowd for very long... :)

"Honey Bee" Blake Shelton

Girl, I been thinkin' 'bout us
And you know I ain't good at this stuff
These feelings pilin' up won't give me no rest
This might come out a little crazy
A little sideways, yeah maybe
I don't know how long it'll take me but I'll do my best

Don't know what my face was all about there... but Mr. M looks good! ;)
If you'll be my soft and sweet
I'll be your strong and steady
You'll be my glass of wine
I'll be your shot of whiskey
You'll be my sunny day
I'll be your shady tree
You'll be my honeysuckle
I'll be your honey bee

Yeah, that came out a little country
But every word was right on the money
And I got you smilin' honey right back at me
Now hold on cause I ain't done
There's more where that came from
Well you know I'm just havin' fun, but seriously

If you'll be my Louisiana
I'll be your Mississippi
You'll be my little Loretta
I'll be your Conway Twitty
You'll be my sugar baby
I'll be your sweet iced tea
You'll be my honeysuckle
I'll be your honey bee

Your kiss just said it all
I'm glad we had this talk
Nothing left to do but fall in each others arms
I coulda said I love you
Coulda wrote you a line or two
Baby, all I know to do is speak right from the heart

If you'll be my soft and sweet
I'll be your strong and steady
You'll be my glass of wine
I'll be your shot of whiskey
You'll be my sunny day
I'll be your shady tree
You'll be my honeysuckle
I'll be your honey bee

You'll be my Louisiana
I'll be your Mississippi
You'll be my little Loretta
I'll be your Conway Twitty
You'll be my sugar baby
I'll be your sweet iced tea
You'll be my honeysuckle
And I'll be your honey bee

I'll be your honey bee

You can hear and watch the video for Honey Bee here
It's a fun song and a cute video.... I highly recommend clicking over. :)
It's exciting to have "your" song.
Every time we hear it now, we turn it up and dance around wherever we are.
Mr. M even called me up one afternoon and played it for me over the phone when he heard it on the radio. Yep, good song choice. :)

So, what about you?
Did you dance your entire first dance just the two of you?
Or did someone join in? By your request or not?
OR what do you plan to do for your first dance?
