Brenna's Maids: A Bridesmaid Request

My lovely friend, Brenna is also in the midst of planning her wedding!!

Her fiance proposed to her New Years Eve this year! How romantic is that!?!

They are planning their wedding for next March.

Brenna posted some pictures of the super cute cards she made to invite her girls to be her Maid of Honor and Bridesmaids. I asked if I could share those with you here because they are ADORABLE... And Miss Brenna sweetly said yes. So check em out ladies!!

This is the outside of the cards she made... I love the little dresses...
And LOOK daisies!!! My fave!!! :)

Each card has the girls' names spelled out in red.

This is the inside of the cards. Again red and daisies!! Lovely!!

The poem reads,

"The day, the dress, the bride, the groom;

The joy, the tears, will all come so soon.
Professing true love to my husband-to-be;

with family and friends all watching me.

I hope the sun will be shining down;

keep your fingers crossed that I'll fit my gown.

But there's one more thing that needs to be;

and thats to have you standing with me."

LOVE IT!!!

Congrats to Miss Brenna and her Hubs to Be!!!

5 Months Update & a Few Tips

As of  two days ago, we're down to 5 months!!
That's 20 weeks in case you were wondering.
And I still have 161 to-dos according to The Knot...

See what I mean... 161 to dos. 149 days to go.
That's MORE than a do a day now... Eeeek!!!

But it's ok!
I'm being productive and on the move!
Yesterday I signed, dated and mailed the DJ contract with the deposit back!
I also mailed a check to the photographer, just to spread out the costs a little...
My philosophy is writing  several little checks throughout the remainder of our 5 months is WAY better than writing a few GINOURMOUS (that IS a word! ) checks in June!

Things I'm currently working on...

  • Got Mr. M to veto his list last night... Since his sister wrote it for me, he decided he wanted veto power over anyone on the list he didn't know or didn't care to invite. Guess how many he marked off... a big fat ZERO! He claimed he'd feel bad taking anyone off the list. Which is fine... I'd planned for the full number already anyway. So now all I have to do is type them into my handy Guest List on The Knot. Right now we're nearing 200 and I still haven't gotten my mom's list... But there is still time for one BIG veto before the invites go out... And we're only sending a small number of Save the Dates to out of town guests....
  • I'm right in the midst of one of the bridesmaid's gifts! I've been working on it at night while watching our tv shows. It's coming right along. I'll have it done before next week for sure! Then it's on to more!!! Remember this post... heehee...

  • I've made plans the last two weekends to go choose my wedding dress... And it didn't pan out. We've had two deaths in the family which meant Saturdays have been booked. Which is ok. Something to remember in wedding planning... It's NOT the only happening in the world during your engagement. Other things will take precendence, just plan accordingly. The goal is to get one ordered this coming (or at least by the following) weekend.
  • One of my bridesmaids is very close to going into labor!!! So an early congrats to Tracey Lou!!! I think I'll write a post at some point, or maybe do a page introducing my maids. They're lovely and surely deserve a little spotlight time!!! She asked me yesterday when I would need bridesmaid measurements, so she has time to lose a little baby weight... I'm thinking the middle of March. That gives me three full months before the wedding to get them ordered and in.
  • I made a 'Bride Bag' to carry all my bridal planning necessities in and I'm SO excited to share it with you all! I used my new Silhouette that Mr. M bought me for Christmas! It's designed around my wedding colors and I just LOVE it! But... I'm set up to guest post the idea over at the fabulous Tatertos & Jello blog on March 2nd!!! (WHICH I'M SO STOKED about!!!) So gotta keep it under wraps until then!
Tatertots and Jello

So that's just a quick update of where things stand at 5 months to go!!! I've been seeing a few posts in the wedding blog world lately about time running out and stressing over things... I haven't really hit that point yet... But I'm sure I will... :) I hope when I do you all will be there to tell me to chill out!!

Until then!!

How's everyone else's plans coming??
Any suggestions based on where I'm standing right now in the planning process??

5 MONTHS and Shepherd Hooks

FYI: Today is January 18, 2011.

Exactly 5 MONTHS from our big day!!

With that comes alot of excitement... A little bit of stress... And a nice wake up call.

That's 151 days from today!

Which makes me so glad, I got another thing done! And a HUGE deal on it too...

Shepherd Hooks!!!

I've had an idea for awhile to do Shepherd hooks down the aisle, holding...
Something...
The initial idea came from my friend, Ashley's wedding...
She used Shepherd hooks to hold balls of flowers down the sides of her aisle...

Ashley's Facebook
Cute, right?!?!
I'm thinking maybe rope wreaths with flowers, or maybe some type of little lanterns... hanging from MY Shepherd hooks...

So to get started on the idea of "making" my aisle, I started looking around for and pricing the Shepherd hooks. My mom purchased one from Wal-Mart awhile back that I could remember... So I researched there... Of course, it's January, so they're not exactly in season as they're a garden department item... Mom remembered having paid about $12 for hers though, so I just went with that for my Wal-Mart pricing... I also looked at Home Depot, Lowe's etc... All seemed to be around $15 or so apiece.

That was UNTIL...
I won a $45 gift certificate from a blog giveaway to CSN Stores!
Not kidding, I had no idea what they were or what they sold until winning...

To sum it up... They sell ALMOST anything you could ever want or imagine you might want... Including SHEPHERD HOOKS! :)

I found these plain, simple, EXACTLY what I was looking for
Royce Lighting Shepherd Hooks!!

Royce Lighting Outdoor Shepherds Hook in Oil Rubbed Bronze

They were originally priced at $94.64. NO JOKE! But they were on SALE for...

$10.01

Really. Go look. Here.

I'll wait while you look... Cause I know you don't believe me...

Back now? Yeah... Crazy, right?!

So I immediately purchased 8! Four for each side of my aisle.
After my certificate I paid $65.67 including shipping!
That means I got each hook for a whopping,

$8.21

WAY less than I could've gotten them even, at Wal-Mart!!!

And they're one of those things that I can absolutely use again... to hang plants, lanterns up the walk to the house, etc...
So yay! Yay for 5 months to go and yay for bargain Shepherd hooks!!!

Now to decide what I want to hang on them....
Any suggestions?

What are you or did you "make" your aisle out of?

Or did you even have an aisle?? What did you do, if no aisle?

Wedding Cake Inspiration

The Cake.

It's kind of a big deal.

It has it's own time for crying out loud!

At every wedding I've EVER been to, they always say,

"It's time to cute THE cake!"

Hmm... Yep, maybe I should start thinking about that.

My Wedding Cake Inspiration Board
from Style Me Pretty:

Cake Inspiration

That's my EXACT cake topper!
Already been purchased.
It was the very first thing I bought for the wedding.
It's a replica of the "Cherished" statue.
Cute, I think! And it fits us.
Mr. M even helped pick it out.

I like the texture of that white cake in the middle.
Screams dreamy wedding day.

I kind of like square cake layers too... Or a combo of round and square...
You know, mix it up a little.

Pink dots are always fun!

We WILL have a groom's cake!!
Mr. M says, "Why can't I just eat YOUR cake?"
That's not the point!

Think I've found the perfect groom's cake topper too.
Post on that later.

It won't be a Superman cake. But it will be a Mr. M cake.
That IS the point!

What was your cake inspiration?

Any fun links to share with me of great wedding cakes??
I'm still looking!

P.S. See that new button over there? --->

Yep! I've been featured!!! I'm loving me some of the Flirty Blog right now!
Thank you Miss Stacie for featuring my Rustic Rope Vases!!

Getting Into Wedding Shape!

I've decided that now is as good a time as any to really get into good wedding shape!
Maybe I'm even a little late in my wedding planning to jump on the wedding body band wagon... But that's ok! Better late than never I think!!

So, what am I doing to acheive a better wedding body?

1. My good friend and bridesmaid, Miss K, as we'll call her...
(not to be confused with The Sister, also a K name....)
has lent me her treadmill! Yay!
She didn't have room in her house for it, knew I needed one and generously donated to the cause! At least until she gets a bigger house...
Just so you know, that's exactly how I look when I exercise...
Hair down, big smiles, and of course cute exercise outfit! :) In my dreams, right?!
Anyway...
I've been running on the treadmill every evening...
Varying distances, but consistent every other day. So far so good.

2. My new blog friend, Monica of Monica Wants It posted a FREE online calorie counter.
I'm all about the free, and knew I could friend Monica once I joined...
So I did. Yesterday.

If you decide to join, feel free to Friend me! We can go it together!
My username is Kassarie. One of my amazing bridesmaids, Mrs Meg, has also joined!
So yay for team work and encouragement!!!

FYI - Meg needs to blog! She has amazing crafting/cooking/etc ideas that SHOULD be shared with the world!!!

So that's what I've got so far! Anyone have any tips on getting into wedding shape?
How did you get in shape/lose weight for your wedding??

My main goal is to get in shape! Losing extra weight is an added bonus!

Baby, why don't we just dance...

We've booked our DJ!!! Another check on the checklist!

Completed Task Book your reception band or DJ, sign the reception music contract, and send a deposit.

Yet again, we were lucky that our photographer, Karen of Treehouse Photography, just so happens to be married to a DJ. :) Who we've heard does an excellent job!

So friends, say hello to Frank of Amplified Attitude Mobile DJ/PA!!!

Duct Tape takin the wheel!!!

We'll have primarily country music played during our reception, as well as a few requests that we plan to list for Frank before hand... (add another item unchecked to the checklist....)

Now to decide on a few special song selections. I really think I'd like to do the traditional dances, like first dance, father/daughter dance etc... But I don't know exactly the dances we'll do, or the songs will choose.
We will definitely be playing, "Why Don't We Just Dance" by Josh Turner! Super fun song!!!

Oh yeah.... we have to include the Dollar Dance!!
At my friend's wedding, they did the dollar dance, where guests "pay" to dance with the bride or groom. It was way fun!

Any suggestions on dances to incorporate?
Or special songs to have played??

Bridesmaid Gifts

So some of my bridesmaids actually read this blog...
And I want their gifts to be at least somewhat of a surprise...
That being said, here's a little teaser for you ladies. :)
I got some of the materials needed in to make up three more bridesmaid gifts. One is already finished.
I need to do 6 total bridesmaids and one for my lovely hostess.

SOURCE
All I'll say is each girl is getting something tailored to her and her personality. And I am so excited to get them all going and hopefully finished soon.
My ladies are getting spoiled, I think! heehee... Tease, tease. ;)

What did you use for bridesmaid gifts? Any good ideas... cause I'm still looking for additions possibly...?
